blue, blue sky

Photography exhibition at Hello, Kristof Lisboa from 24th October 2026 until 24th November 2026.

After nearly a decade beneath Dublin’s grey skies, where the absence of brightness gradually shaped her inner world, photographer Celia Montes began longing for change. When she arrived in Lisbon, something shifted.

The city’s soft, pastel light felt like a warm embrace. Blush-pink walls, patterned ceramic tiles, creamy façades and sun-washed yellows offered a new visual language — one that felt closer to herself.

Blue, blue sky is a photographic exploration of that transformation: a reflection on how the places we inhabit can shape who we are, and how moving through different landscapes can sometimes help us find our way back to ourselves.

Inspired by the feeling of spring and long summer days, the images celebrate the simple pleasures of everyday life: the scent of fresh flowers, sunlight on skin, colour spilling across buildings, and the quiet beauty found in ordinary moments.

fresh lemonade

As the light filters through a reed ceiling, all of us who look at him return to our childhood, to our first summer love, to all the promises made under the stars, to the taste of our first ice-cream, to those vampiric mosquitos at dawn. His smile is pure happiness and his voice is sweeter than a peach. What captivates are his big dreamy eyes and his latent innocence.

The summer of your life always includes a conversation until early morning, a squeaky fan, a nap without sheets, fingers digging into the sand, fresh fruit, blue ice coolers, paellas, and of course, sweeping waves on the shore, that when they uncover your tit make you die laughing as you swallow water.

Looking at the sea from the comfortable sun loungers of the chiringuito, you can see humans dressed as aquatic animals with lips similar to the Napoleon fish* while holding a snorkel and foggy goggles.

And there are also boats. Many. Drifting boats, which go to all the ports, loaded with people who make the journey more bearable with salty laughter. Although the bravest ones launch from the bow and swim until they reach deserted islands.

Timeless islands where everything makes sense, you just have to stop to look at the horizon.

And when night falls, fireflies that fly aimlessly illuminate the sky and radiate a glow similar to the eyes of that child who sang on the chiringuito table, where they serve up some finger-licking rations of joy and never-ending parties.

Because all the moments lived on my own paradise exceed the best dream of a summer night.
